Edith Cavell - Marie Depage

Bronze medal made by Fonson and Sons featuring portraits of Cavell and Depage by A. Bonnetain, 1919. [Edith Cavell (1865-1915) was an English nurse who served in a medical institute in Brussels during World War I. In 1915 she was arrested by occupying German forces who executed her on October 11, 1915 for harboring and aiding Allied prisoners and helping them in escape attempts. Depage was the wife of the Belgian doctor for whom Cavell had come to work in Brussels].
